FAMILIES with severely disabled children got some time off from being carers to enjoy celebrating Christmas with them.

The festive fun and games started early for youngsters at Haven House Children’s Hospice with their annual Christmas party on December 10.

Mums, dads, brothers, and sisters of children who use the hospice in Woodford Green watched a pantomime, had their faces painted, and got to visit Santa’s Grotto on the big day at Forest School in Snaresbrook.

Over 100 people got involved to make sure the families did not have to worry about their children’s challenging conditions for a few hours.

Haven House chief executive Mike Palfreman thanked everyone who took part and urged people to continue donating to the hospice’s Christmas appeal.

He said: “The seasonal period can be a very difficult time for families with life-limited children, and to be able to provide a space where they can come together and have fun was heartening to see.

“We are grateful to Forest School for their support and to our volunteers and staff for creating such a event for our families.”
