A SWING dance class has launched in South Woodford after being given investment by BBC television show Dragons’ Den.

SwingTrain classes are taking place every Saturday at St Anne Line RC Church, in Grove Crescent, South Woodford, at 12pm.

The style of dancing encompasses swing, gospel, rhythm, blues and jazz, rather than the usual electronic music that dominates a lot of other cardio exercise classes.

The fitness regime has been developed by Scott Cupit, an award winning dance teacher and entrepreneur pitched his idea and secured investment on Dragons’ Den.

SwingTrain is now launching under the guidance of investor Deborah Meaden, and local fitness instructor Ruth Pugh has been selected as the first SwingTrainer in South Woodford.

Ms Pugh said: “We’ll be fostering friendships as well as fitness at the South Woodford SwingTrain sessions.

“The music and atmosphere is designed to be supportive and uplifting, so that participants won’t even realise they’re burning up to 500 calories an hour because they’re smiling so much.

“The best thing about SwingTrain is that it’s accessible to everyone, no matter their age, fitness levels or abilities. We will always warmly welcome absolute beginners to fitness. All that’s required is a desire for a positive experience.”
