A CAMPAIGN group will lobby the council to reject the government’s healthcare plans for east London at an upcoming cabinet meeting.

Save Our NHS Waltham Forest is asking councillors to vote against the Sustainability and Transformation Plans being rolled out across the country.

The group want a new hospital to be built in north east London to cater for the growing population and the cuts to mental health services to be reversed.

A spokesman for Save Our NHS Waltham Forest said: “When a women dies on a Hospital trolley after 35 hours in a corridor in one of the wealthiest countries - we agree with the Red Cross that this is a humanitarian crisis.

“Yet the Sustainability and Transformation Plan for our area (North East London) officially includes further cuts of £578m and we’ve seen evidence the true figure may be closer to £1bn.”

The group will hold their next protest at Walthamstow Town Hall at 1.15pm on Tuesday January 17.
