Victoria line passengers faced a nightmare commute today when services were suspended for five hours due to a signal failure.

Trains were suspended in both directions on the line at around 9.45am this morning (Monday, January 16) after problems with signals at Euston.

The line was shut down for more than an hour between Walthamstow and Finsbury Park while emergency engineering work took place.

Services restarted between the two stations at around 11am, but severe delays continued well into the afternoon.

Work to resolve the problem was completed by 2.45pm, but commuters still experienced extended journey times.

Commuters took to Twitter this morning to voice their frustration at delays.

Passengers will be able to use their tickets on local buses, as well as South West Trains, Great Northern and Southeaster rail routes.

Refunds are also being offered for some passengers inconvenienced by the delays.
