THERE will soon be two dedicated police officers in every ward in Redbridge.
Redbridge Council yesterday (January 17) revealed the Mayor of London’s promise to have two police officers on the beat in every ward will soon become a reality in the borough.
Mayor Sadiq Khan made the policing pledge last year after he was elected in May.
The City Hall boss has also decided to supply Redbridge with 12 extra police officers in various wards across the borough where policing needs are considered greater.
The changes will mean four extra officers in Loxford and Valentines, two in Clementswood, and one each in Seven Kings and Hainault.
Council leader Cllr Jas Athwal said: “We welcome this investment in Redbridge of extra police officers by the Mayor of London, and additional support in certain wards where an extra police presence will make our streets and communities safer.”
The changes are part of the recent decision to merge policing in Redbridge, Barking & Dagenham and Havering into one joint basic command unit.
