FOUR arrests have been made after a driver pulled out a hand gun on two police officers before crashing his getaway car and running off.

At around 8.30pm on Monday (January 16) a police car drew closer to a parked car in Portland Rise, Hackney, when a man got out and walked off quickly.

Suspecting it was suspicious, the officers drew closer again when several people inside, including the driver, began throwing objects at the patrol car.

The people inside then got out of the car and ran away.

As the two officers got out the driver pulled out a handgun, backing them away as he threatened to shoot.

The officers backed away as they called for assistance from specialist firearms officers.

The man got back into his car and made off.

The suspect crashed his car into some parked cars in Seven Sisters Road, in Finsbury Park, and made off on foot.

The vehicle was searched and the handgun was found.

A 21-year-old man was arrested for possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence at about 5am today.

A further two men, 22 and 20, and a boy, 15, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They all remain in custody.
