A MUSLIM man who was falsely accused by Daily Mail columnist Katie Hopkins of being an extremist has invited her to his home for tea.

Mohammed Zahid Mahmood, of Walthamstow, was accused of having ties to terror group Al Qaeda in an opinion piece by Hopkins published on December 23, 2015.

He and ten other members of his family were barred from boarding a plane to the US at Heathrow airport on December 15 2015.

Mahmood and his brother had planned to visit Disneyland with their children.

The Daily Mail apologised to the family and paid £150K in libel damages last December after the claims were found to be untrue.

Mahmood publicly forgave Hopkins after the case was settled.

He appeared on the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire programme on Thursday (January 19).

When asked how he feels about Hopkins now he replied: “She’s apologised and we accepted and that’s the end of that.

“In fact my wife and I would formally like to invite her to our home to meet our family and to have tea and coffee with us.”

Katie Hopkins has been contacted for a comment.
