A TUBE station closed its doors for the fourth time this month due to “staff shortages”.

At around 8am on Sunday (January 29), Transport for London announced it had to close Blackhorse Road Underground station.

For the fourth time in January TfL gave the reason behind the sudden closure as an “absence of station staff”.

The brief closure did not last long however, with the station opening its doors less than hour later before 9am.

Earlier this month TfL admitted Tube workers belonging to RMT and TSSA unions are refusing to book overtime shifts as part of a dispute over ticket office closures.

A TfL spokesperson said it is creating a staff shortage in the area, where tube workers are then moved to “priority stations” to minimise disruption.

During these recent closures, workers have been moved to Tottenham Hale station, a 17-minute walk away from Blackhorse Road.
