A documentary promoting positive body image will have a one-off screening at the South Woodford Odeon, in High Road, South Woodford, on Monday, February 27.

Embrace follows the journey of body image activist Taryn Brumfitt, who posted an unconventional naked before and after photograph of herself in 2013.

It was seen by more than 100 million people around the world and sparked huge interest from the media.

In the documentary, Taryn continues to explore the global issue of body loathing and travels the world to interview different women about their attitudes to their bodies.

Some of the women she interviewed included, Mia Freedman, the youngest ever editor of the Australian edition of the Cosmopolitan magazine, Adelaide researcher Professor Marika Tiggemann, UK talk show host and photographer Amanda de Cadenet and body image blogger Jess Baker.

The screening of Embrace has been organised by 44-year-old Jude Hutchinson, who has lived in Redbridge her whole life.

She saw the film advertised but couldn’t find anywhere local to watch it, so contacted Demand, a screening service that brings films to your nearest cinema.

In order for it to be shown, Jude had to sell at least 54 tickets, but is currently up to 86 and this has resulted in the showing being moved to a bigger screen, so there is more space.

She says: “Having seen the trailer I believe it is important that as many people see the film as possible.”
