FOUR men have been charged with robbery after a shopkeeper was “viciously attacked”.

A 41-year-old shopkeeper was violently attacked in Hermit Road, Plaistow, on October 23 last year, after he chased a man who stole two boxes of eggs from his shop.

Saiful Islam, 21, of Westbury Road, Forest Gate, was charged with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon last week (February 9).

Ryhan Uddin, 21, of Belgrave Road Ilford, Mohammed Hameed, 21, of Halley Road, Forest Gate, and Shakeel Rehmen, of Lathom Road, East Ham were all charged with robbery this week (February 12,13).

Mr Islam, Mr Hameed, and Mr Rehmen will appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on March 9, while Mr Uddin will be put before Magistrates at Thames.
