A SELFLESS 11-year-old girl is donating her hair to be transformed into wigs for children fighting cancer.

Evie Ceeney, from Highams Park, chopped off her long chestnut hair on Wednesday (February 15) to donate to the Little Princess Trust.

The charity provides wigs and hair pieces for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment and alopecia.

Evie got the idea in 2012 after seeing her mother go through hair loss in her fight against breast cancer.

Before the day of the big chop, Evie said: “I felt that it was my duty to help people like her.”

Long no more

The youngster has raised over £1,000 on JustGiving for her friend’s mother, who was diagnosed at the same time as her mum.

Evie added: “Sadly, her cancer spread and there is currently no cure, only treatment after treatment.

“Her name is Julie, and she is struggling with her on-going treatment and needs to try alternatives, which come at a price.”

Mum of two, Julie Strelley-Jones, needs £250,000 to fund critical treatment in the UK and abroad.

Conventional treatments failed to stop her aggressive breast cancer progressing, with it spreading to her liver, lungs and bones.
