THREE people had acid thrown in their faces after an under 16s football match last weekend.

Metropolitan Police officers and London Ambulance Service (LAS) paramedics were called to Starch House Lane Playing Fields in Barkingside at around 1.45pm on Sunday (February 19).

When they arrived at the ground in Virginia Gardens they found a 16-year-old and 47-year-old had been assaulted and a dangerous chemical thrown in their faces.

The pair had been sitting in a car after an under 16s match between home side Shield Academy and Upminster Park Rovers at 12pm.

They were taken to an east London hospital, but only suffered minor injuries and were later discharged.

An Essex FA spokesman said: “We have received a misconduct report relating to an Under 16s match between Shield Academy and Upminster Park Rovers, which was played at Starch House Lane Playing Fields in Barkingside at 12:00pm on Sunday 19th February.

“This report is currently receiving our attention in accordance with our disciplinary procedures.”

Shortly after the assault at Starch House Lane, police were called to reports of a another assault in Barkingside High Street

They arrived to find a 15-year-old boy had been victim of another 'acid attack'.

He was taken to hospital with “non-life threatening or life-changing injuries”.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the assaults and has been bailed until mid-April.

Officers from Redbridge CID are still investigating.
