ASPIRING daredevils travelled from across the country to hear the stories of an ex-special forces soldier.

Nearly 200 people went to Sir James Hawkey Hall to put their questions to ex-Special Boat Serviceman (SBS) and star of reality show SAS: Who Dares Wins Ant Middleton last Wednesday (February 22).

The event in Woodford Green raised almost £7,000 for Haven House Children’s Hospice, with the top prize selling for £600.

Among the guests were SAS: Who Dares Wins series two winner Moses Adeyemi from Barkingside and Haven House user Jessica Wilson from Chingford.

The 17-year-old and her mum and dad got to have a selfie and a chat with Ant after signed books, DVDs, and photographs were auctioned off for the charity.

He said: “I’m very proud to help raise funds for Haven House. It’s such an important charity and provides vital support to children and their families in the local area.

“It was fantastic to see so many people coming from across the country to take part in the event and I was delighted to meet Jessica.”

The hospice’s PR and celebrity manager Scott Roberts added: “We are so grateful to Ant Middleton for taking part in our fundraiser.

“Ant was so generous in making sure all of our guests had the opportunity to have a selfie with him and it was incredible to see people attending from as far as Bristol, Southampton and Leicestershire.

“The evening exceeded our expectations and raised a fantastic amount for our hospice.”
