THE TERRIFYING moment a billboard nearly flattened two passer-bys was captured on CCTV as Storm Doris swept through the capital.

Gales of up to 60 mph battered the capital on Thursday (February 23) felling trees and littering debris onto streets and cars below.

In the midst of a weather onslaught a CCTV camera caught a nearly tragic moment in Osborne Road, Leyton.

Just after 11am two people were seen crossing the street when a wooden billboard is blown clean off the wall above them.

The shocking footage shows the billboard heading straight for them before they duck out of its way just in time and run off in the other direction.

Photographer, Jake Green, was at work when his office’s CCTV camera caught the dramatic moment.

Mr Green said it is the second time the billboard has fallen from the wall in five years.

He added: “It was very fortunate the two people were not seriously injured by it.

“People need to be aware of the risks they take when walking around during storms like that.

“Thank God nothing happened.”
