His eldest son Yasin has set up a Just Giving page for people to donate money to Al-Khair Foundation Charity.

The UK-based organisation provides emergency aid and disaster relief as well as tackling issues such as women’s empowerment and domestic violence.

Yasin said: “Our father Mohammed and husband to your mother was a loving, friendly, caring, honest and respected man within the community.

“If you were intending to send flowers our father would have preferred and be grateful if you would instead make a donation to Al-Khair Foundation Charity for the Ali Banat Project for this good cause.”

The Ali Banat Project aims to help Muslims in developing countries.

Mr Yousef’s funeral will take place on Thursday, March 2, at 12noon at Lea Bridge Road Mosque.
