New CCTV images have revealed the white Mercedes linked to the “terrifying” Michael Watson carjacking and acid attack.

On last night’s Crimewatch, the former boxer described the moment he was “hanging for dear life” in an appeal to trace the “evil thugs” responsible.

Watson, 51, was dragged along The Ridgeway, in Chingford, after thugs pounced on him and carer Lennard Ballack at 5pm on Thursday, February 16.

The new images show a white E or C-class Mercedes with tinted windows driving behind Watson’s blue VW Golf in Chingford.

Graphic images of the damage done to Watson’s shoulder show the skin ripped from him as he was dragged along the road.

Michael Watson's damaged back

The former Commonwealth middleweight champ told the show: “It felt like my skin was peeling off. I was hanging on for dear life.

“From then on I passed out.

“I came through with just all bumps and grazes. A very lucky escape.”

Watson’s carer and life-long friend Lennard Ballack was driving the Golf when he was rammed at a set of traffic lights.

When checking the damage with the driver of the Mercedes he was doused with ammonia in his eyes.

Describing the moment he realised his best friend had not died, he said: “The relief that ran down me and the happiness that ran back up, it was unbelievable.

“Somebody who does something like this has no respect for humanity.”

After the show, Superintendent Paul Clements said they had received an “encouraging amount of calls” about the Mercedes.
