THE POTENTIAL victims of a convicted paedophile teacher are being urged to come forward.

Philip Tollitt, 63, was sentenced to two years in prison for assaulting a 15-year-old girl at McEntee School, in Walthamstow.

The incident took place in 2000, but police believe the girl may not be Tollitt's only victim.

Investigating officer DCI Emma Jimmick said: “We are not certain that the victim in this case was the only person groomed by Philip Tollitt.

"I appeal to anyone who has suffered as a result of this man’s offending to contact police as soon as possible.

“It doesn’t matter that many years have passed since the offences occurred.

"This case demonstrates that we will continue to investigate cases such as this no matter how much time has elapsed.

"I hope that Tollitt’s conviction and subsequent imprisonment will encourage anyone suffering in silence to come forward and speak to police.”

Tollitt, who moved to Apethorpe, in Peterborough, was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, February 24.
