TWO security guards were attacked after an alleged shoplifting in a quiet high street.
Police were called to Sainsbury’s Local in The Broadway, Woodford Green just before 3.30pm on Tuesday (March 21) to reports of a shoplifting.
When they arrived at the supermarket near Woodford Station they found two security guards at the shop had been injured.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said officers arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of shoplifting and assault.
He added the guards' injuries were "not life-changing or life-threatening".
The man was later released without charge.
Sainsbury’s stayed open as normal.
