HUNDREDS of people are helping a family pay for the funeral of an “inspirational” boy who died suddenly after fighting an “aggressive” leukaemia.

Andrew Baffour, 17, from Woodford Green, passed away on Friday (March 24) after battling leukaemia for less than a year.

In just 24 hours an online funeral fund for Andrew has collected more than £9,200 from over 370 people.

Andrew was diagnosed with leukaemia after finishing his GCSE exams at Trinity Catholic High School in Woodford Green, last year, but he never gave up and believed “he would live”.

But after a partial remission in January, an aggressive bout of cancer came back in February.

Friends of Andrew have poured in tributes for a boy who “inspired” them every day.

David Emeka, 17, was amazed by the generosity shown after starting the funeral fund.

He said: “Andrew was my very close friend, we knew each other since nursery.

“The last few years were a struggle and when his leukaemia came back it was ferocious and he sadly passed.

“All this money shows he was loved by everyone and he is not alone even now.”

Joshua Rossiter, 17, said his best friend was the “strongest person” he knew.

He added: “His humility and loyalty never changed throughout his life.

“Seeing you fighting your battle every day without fear has shown me the true meaning of faith and courage.

“Our memories will never leave me and I know you are watching over me.

“Life will never be the same without you but I know that one day we will meet again and I will have my brother back.”

Andrew Spence, 27, said he was “inspired by his faith” at such a difficult time.

He said: “He believed that he would live.

“He would never complain about pain, he just kept going.

“I’m 10 years older than Andrew but he showed me what real faith is.

“Although in the last month his body was facing extreme afflictions, you would have never known it.

“He never complained, he never whined, he just knew the God he served and that He would make him whole again.”
