What is the worst wedding you have ever been to?

Have you ever cringed at the Best Man’s attempt at being humorous in his speech or panicked when the bride turned up late?

Queen’s Theatre, in Hornchurch, is exploring family weddings in its latest production, Worst Wedding Ever.

The comedy follows the lives of Rachel and Scott, who are getting married and also buying a house together.

However, when the price of their house increases, they realise their dream wedding will have to be downsized.

Rachel’s mother decides that it is up to the rest of the family to make their day memorable, but with a marquee in the back garden, a pub band as the entertainment and only two fully-functioning portable toilets, it seems the wedding is more likely to a day the bride and groom would mostly likely want to forget.

The writer of the show is Chris Chibnall, who created ITV’s popular drama, Broadchurch and from 2018, he will also be head writer and executive producer of BBC’s long-running drama Doctor Who.

His latest production, Worst Wedding Ever, made its debut at the Salisbury Playhouse in 2014, but now it is making an impact in Essex – particularly as the show features a live wedding band.

Nav Sidhu stars in the comedy as Scott. The actor trained at the East 15 Acting School, in Loughton and has appeared in Arabian Nights, The Empire and Pigeons on stage, as well as appeared in Silent Witness, Spooks and The Kumar’s on television and the 2013 Hollywood film How I Live Now.

Audience members who want to remember their favourite lines can also buy the script from the bar.
