A TUBE worker was attacked by a gang of teenagers after he told them they could not bring their bikes into the station.

The assault happened at 6.15pm on February 15 at South Woodford Tube Station.

The London Underground employee was standing at the barriers when he was approached by a group of boys and girls aged between 13 and 16.

When he told three of the gang they were not allowed to bring their bikes into the station until after 7pm, they started “pushing and jostling him”.

The attack quickly escalated and they started punching him in the head, leaving him with cuts and bruises on his face, ears, and a swollen jaw.

British Transport Police’s investigating officer PC Ian Hockridge is calling on anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

He said: “I am keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who might have been in the station at the time.

“We take staff assaults very seriously and we take a hard-line approach against those who assault staff. We will arrest, prosecute and possibly ban from rail services anyone who uses.”
