Investments will see new homes, jobs, leisure, and business facilities across the town centre.

Between now and 2019, residents can expect new street paving, 41 new trees, benches, street lights and cycle stands, as well as pop up units for music and food stalls.

After phase one is complete work will begin in Ilford High Road, Cranbrook Road, Clements Lane, and Clements Road later this year.

The next phase will also feature a public art project in Griggs Approach near Ilford Police Station.

Redbridge cabinet member for regeneration, property and planning Cllr Helen Coomb said: “This is a really exciting moment as we kick-start major street improvements that will rejuvenate and revitalise the heart of llford.

“New homes, shops, leisure, community and cultural facilities are all on the way.

“Together with the arrival of Crossrail, our transformation of the Town Centre will further enhance Ilford’s fast-improving status as a well-connected place to live in London.”
