WITNESSES to an “unprovoked” and “violent” stabbing on a teenage boy are being urged to come forward.

Violent thugs pounced on the 16-year-old victim as he left a party with some friends in Buckingham Road, Stratford, on Saturday, February 18.

The group left the party just after midnight and were walking along Cruikshank Road before a large group of males surrounded and attacked them.

The victim was punched and kicked after falling to the floor, but he managed to get up and attempt to run away.

His attackers chased him down to continue their assault, stabbing in the thigh before running away towards Bramall Close.

He staggered to Hayworth Road where he was assisted by two members of the public who called an ambulance.

Medics took him to hospital and he was discharged the next day.

No-one else was reported injured in the attack.

Police believe the boy was targeted by the gang as was thought to be from “outside the area”.

Officers have made no arrests and are appealing for potential witnesses to come forward.

DC Mark Taylor of Newham CID said: "This violent attack on this young victim was totally unprovoked, and could have had graver consequences.

"We would urge anybody who knows something that could help us trace the attackers to speak to us. Any information passed to us would be treated in the strictest confidence."
