CONCERN is growing for the welfare of an elderly man with dementia, who has been missing for five days.

Police are appealing for information on Samuel Akrong, who went missing from his home in Maxley Gardens, in Dagenham, at 6pm on Sunday (March 26).

The 86-year-old suffers from dementia and has many other medical issues.

He is described as a black man, approximately 5ft 5ins tall, slim, with grey hair and glasses.

It is not known what he was wearing when he was last seen.

Samuel has links to Poplar in east London and has been known to travel to the Elephant and Castle and Forest Gate, in Newham.

Detective Sergeant John Jung from Dagenham said: "We would ask that members of the public be vigilant, and if they see Mr Akrong, or indeed if they have seen him over the last four days, to contact police urgently.

“We are very concerned for this vulnerable elderly gentleman, and hope that he is located safe and well."

Anyone who has seen Samuel or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact police via 101 or call the charity Missing People on 116000.
