A NIGHT manager is walking 340 miles across the widest point between England and Wales to raise awareness for Crohn’s disease.
Starting from St Davids at the most westerly point in Wales, Ray Denyer, from Chingford, is trekking across to Lowestoft.
Ray began his 12 day trek on Saturday (April 1), passing through the tough terrain of the Brecon Beacons yesterday.
The 59-year-old was inspired to take on the challenge after seeing his son-in-law Lee Newman “suffer in silence” with Crohn’s disease.
Crohn’s is a bowel disease which causes the lining of the gastrointestinal tract to become inflamed.
Ray said: “We are fighting to achieve a better quality of life for the 300,000 people in the UK suffering physically and emotionally from these and other forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
“Ultimately, we want to find a cure.”
Ray has so far raised £980 from 47 backers on JustGiving, but it still way off his £3,500 target.
