Police probing an acid attack at a London nightclub in which 20 revellers suffered burn injuries have issued pictures of a suspect they want to trace.

Arthur Collins, 25, is wanted for questioning after the horrific incident at a nightspot in trendy Dalston, east London, in the early hours of Easter Monday.

Two of the casualties - men aged 24 and 29 - have been transferred to a specialist burns unit in Essex where they remain in a "serious, but stable" condition.

Revellers were celebrating the long Easter weekend at Wringer & Mangle when a “noxious substance” - believed to be acidic - was thrown inside the venue.

Now detectives have released a CCTV image of 25-year-old Arthur Collins, wanted for questioning in connection with the attack.

They say Collins, of Hertfordshire, shouldn't be approached by the public, and anyone who sees him should dial 999 immediately.

Detective Inspector Lee McCullough, of Hackney CID who is leading the investigation, said: "Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact investigators.

"He should not be approached by members of the public. If seen the public are advised to call 999 immediately."

Officers were called to the nightclub in Sidworth Street, Dalston, at around 1.10am on Monday after revellers complained of a "noxious" substance. Firefighters and paramedics also attended.

Two men aged 24 and 29 have been transferred to a specialist burns hospital in Essex where they remain in a serious but stable condition.

Twelve people attended hospital suffering burns; 10 people were taken by ambulance and two people presented themselves at an east London hospital.

DI McCullough said: "As a result of the incident a total of 20 people have now been identified as suffering various burns.

"Officers believe a dispute between two groups of people developed inside the venue, resulting in a noxious substance being sprayed by a male suspect directly at the two men most seriously injured.

"Other people inside the venue suffered the effects of the substance.

"The substance is yet to be identified, but it is believed to have been acidic."

DI McCullough added: "We now have 20 people suffering from the effects of an acidic substance being sprayed in a confined space in a busy nightclub. All have burn related injuries.

"The noxious substance used has not yet been confirmed, but samples retrieved from the scene have been sent for analysis.

"If you were there and saw anyone involved inside or leaving the nightclub, please get in touch."

Anyone with information should call Hackney CID via 101 or, to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
