A BURNT out car left abandoned in Wanstead could help police solve the "brutal" murder of a 21-year-old man.

Ahmed Deen-Jah died on Sunday April 2 after he was stabbed in the heart at an off-licence in Canning Town.

Emergency services rushed to the shop in Freemasons Road at 3.30pm but Mr Deen-Jah was pronounced dead shortly after.

Officers with the Met Police's Homicide and Major Crime Command investigating the murder believe a black Mercedes could be key to bringing Mr Deen-Jah's murderer to justice.

The Mercedes CLK 220, registration number KJ06CCZ, was spotted on the A406 North Circular near the A12 junction at Redbridge Roundabout at 2.25pm, around an hour before the murder.

It was found torched and abandonned in Warren Road, Wanstead at 11.30pm that evening.

DCI Gary Holmes of the Homicide and Major Crime Command said: "The movements of this car form a vital part of this investigation and we need to work out its whereabouts from when it was spotted shortly before 2:30pm on 2 April and when it was discovered burnt out later that night.

"If you remember seeing this car in between those timeframes, or have any information that could assist the investigation, I would urge you to call police."

He added: "This was a particularly brutal attack on a young man.

We are still trying to establish the circumstances behind this incident, and we are continuing to appeal for any information."

Two 21-year-old men, a 20-year-old man, and two 19-year-olds have been arrested on suspicion of murder and have been bailed until next month.
