AN ONLINE animated sitcom about the misadventures of a crooked east London family is getting its first outing on TV.

Creator Ian Brown, of Castle Avenue, Highams Park, said he is “thrilled” to announce The Bruvs will be airing on TV channel Dave.

The TV producer hopes it will one day rival hit US sitcoms The Simpsons and Family Guy for grown-up fans of animation.

It follows the exploits of Doug and Den, two dodgy ex-criminals attempting to go straight as they settle in Waltham Forest.

They are accompanied along the way by old dad, sister Janice, her son Jason, and Essex girl Chanterelle.

Operating on a shoestring budget, the episodes have been building a fan base online since it started in 2015.

From May 2, 11 episodes will air late at night on Dave and will be available to watch on its catch up service UKTV Play from May 3.

Mr Brown said he is “thrilled” with the opportunity to team up with the popular comedy channel.

He said: "We are also delighted to be on the video on demand service UKTV Play.

“We are on Dave at quite an ungodly hour so our fans can always catch up there.”

The 53-year-old said his loyal audience were excited to hear about the news.

He added: “But we hope to reach a whole new audience that we have not seen online.”
