FESTIVAL fever is set to hit Leytonstone High Road this month.

Shake Up the High Road will be held on Saturday, May 27. Thirty live acts and DJs will perform in three venues from noon until late.

The ballroom at the Red Lion and All You Read Is Love in the High Road will host the acts as well as nearby Luna Lounge in Church Lane.

A range of different kinds of music will be on offer including Reggae, Afrobeat and guitar and drums.

Organiser Simon Singleton, who is originally from Glasgow, and has been living in Leytonstone for five years.

The 39-year-old said: “It’s something I’ve wanted to do since I moved to the area and when the ballroom opened in the Red Lion last year I thought now is the time to do it.

“Five years ago a lot of people went into central London at the weekend but now I think people like socialising more in Leytonstone. People like to meet others living in their area.”

Kioko, Brassroots, Woman’s Hour and Mystery Jets are some of the acts lined up.
