A WOODFORD GREEN secondary school is celebrating after it was rated “one of the safest schools in the country”.

Woodbridge High School in St Barnabas Road received the news this week after a rigorous inspection by the National Safety Certification Scheme for Schools (SafetyMARK).

After demonstrating all its buildings, equipment, and outdoor areas were up to safety standards for staff, pupils, and visitors, the school bagged an “excellent” health and safety score.

SafetyMARK’s Justin Smith said: “Woodbridge has a really positive attitude with regard to health and safety. It is clear to see that it is taken extremely seriously and that it is very well managed.

“The health and safety culture is among the best in the country.”

Woodbridge school health and safety coordinator Frank Gordon said he was “thrilled” the school had done so well.

He said: “It’s wonderful to have this recognition for all our efforts to make our school such a safe place to work and study.”
