FANS across the globe are showing their love for Leyton Orient’s video player amid fears it could be cancelled.

Richard Wilkie, who started the petition, worries the team's relegation from the Football League will put an end to Orient’s dedicated video service.

The Orient Player lets fans all from all over the world access video previews, reaction and highlights, all to the sound of legendary commentator ‘Dulcet’ Dave Victor.

Mr Wilkie said he wanted to demonstrate the fans of “this proud and historical club" highly value the service.

He said: “The enthusiasm and professionalism demonstrated by the commentary team would be a huge loss to the club and to the fans around the world.”

Mr Wilkie hopes a suitable alternative is found should the Orient Player’s contract not be renewed next season.

He added: “Without a comparable service the globally diverse fan base will slowly dwindle, and as everyone knows, especially for a family club like Orient, the fans are the lifeblood of the club.”

Backing the petition in Spain is William John Harrison, who said the Orient Player is his “only connection” with the team he’s supported for nearly 60 years.

He added: “Without it, my only contact would be through snippets in newspapers.

“We must try to keep this service going for our beloved LOFC.”

Closer to home in London, Nathan Gibson put his feelings bluntly: “I'm signing because Dave Victor is a brilliant commentator and Becchetti's bad ownership shouldn't affect others.”

In Malta, Paul Nice said: “Dave, Matt and halftime guests provide great entertainment for Orient fans around the world during bad times.”

Proving Leyton Orient truly is a global club is Russel Gurvitz, who from Jerusalem in Israel, said: “Just can't imagine match days without Dulcet Dave Victor's commentary on Orient Player.”
