A HIT-AND-RUN driver crashed into two other cars only a minute later.

Police officers on patrol in Stratford High Street saw the car run over a pedestrian at around 4.40pm on Bank Holiday Monday (May 1). The driver did not stop at the scene.

The man, in his 30s, was rushed to a hospital in east London where he is still being treated for his injuries.

Around a minute later the same car crashed into two others in Westfield Avenue, near the Olympic Park, before the driver got out and ran off.

The people in the other cars escaped with minor injuries, but none requiring hospital treatment.

Detectives from the Met Police’s serious collision investigation unit want to hear from anyone who saw the crash, particularly any drivers who may have footage of them on their dash cams.

DS Mark Palmer, of the Met’s roads and transport policing command, said: "This was a very nasty collision which we really need the public's help with to progress our investigation.

“We'd urge any witnesses who have information, particular other drivers who may have captured it on their vehicle dash-cams, to contact us.”

There have not been any arrests but enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are still ongoing.

Anyone with any information should call the police’s witness hotline on 0208 597 4874 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
