Two youths are expected to stand trial this autumn accused of the knife murder of a 17-year-old boy in Walthamstow.

Esra Abeka-Soares, 18, of Caxton Road, Southall, and a 17-year-old male from Walthamstow, appeared at the Old Bailey today (Friday, May 19) charged with killing 17-year-old Elijah Dornelly.

The pair, appearing via video link from custody for their first appearance at a crown court, spoke only to confirm their names.

They were remanded in custody to a plea hearing on August 4, with a provisional trial due to start on November 6.

The trial is expect to last for up to three weeks.

Elijah was found by officers suffering from a serious stab wound in Walthamstow High Street, at around 11.30pm on May 7.

He was taken to an east London hospital, but died from his injuries shortly after.

The teenager was a former pupil at Kelmscott Secondary School, in Markhouse Road, Walthamstow and is also thought to have attended Leyton Sixth Form College.

Just hours before he was stabbed, Elijah had joined hundreds of other campaigners to take part in an anti-knife crime march in central London.
