NEIGHBOURS have slammed fly-tippers for treating a children’s play area “as a glorified tip”.

Residents in Onslow Gardens, South Woodford, were shocked when they saw furniture and bags of rubbish strewn near the entrance to Roding Valley Park over the weekend.

Mother Aeshari Begum Seager spotted the pile of junk on Saturday evening (May 20) on her way to the park with her children.

Commenting on social media her neighbours branded the fly-tippers “selfish and disgusting”, and said they had already reported the mess to Redbridge Council.

Roding ward councillor Lloyd Duddridge said the spot has suffered similar incidents in the past and urged people to continue reporting them.

He said: “This can only be described as criminal behaviour that is not welcome in South Woodford.

“It’s horrendous to be living in an area where people feel they can use it as a glorified tip.

“This has come up before and it’s a shame because it’s an area of natural beauty, which makes it even worse.

“I would urge as many residents as possible to report things like this so the council can get them cleared as soon as possible.”

Redbridge Council has been contacted for comment.
