A GROUP of enthusiastic pupils marked national Walk to School Week by challenging themselves to go the extra mile.
The youngsters at Mission Grove Primary School in Buxton Road, Walthamstow, walked to and from school every day last week.
The school has been awarded silver status by Transport for London’s STARS scheme for the work it has done to inspire pupils to travel to school sustainably and actively.
Head Teacher Kate Young, said: "At Mission Grove we track how the children come to school every day as part of our healthy schools status and our travel plan.
“Having a week focused on walking has raised the profile, not only with the children but also the parents, about how important it is for the environment and our health to walk to school.”
