More than 50 bankers are getting their hands dirty to help a hospice looking after seriously ill children.

During National Volunteering Week, which runs until June 12, workers from Insight Investment and Citi Group are helping Haven House get ready for its Summer Fair on July 2.

The hospice is also appealing for more volunteers to help manage stalls at the circus-themed fundraising event.

Volunteer development manager, Andrea Thorogood said: “Each year more than 350 volunteers get involved with us in some way - and we always need more help.

“You could become a Haven House champion and help us at a fundraising event.

“We also do monthly bucket collections at train stations and we are always looking for volunteers to help us ‘hold a bucket’ for two hours per month.

“You could help to place our Red House collection boxes in local businesses and shops or help us connect with schools and community groups.

“For even a couple of hours a month, you can help make a big difference to life-limited children and their families.”
