THE CHINGFORD Village Festival is returning this weekend for its 23rd outing.
On Saturday, June 10, tens of thousands of people will gather in Station Road for the popular festival.
The day of fun, which runs from 12pm to 6pm, centres on and around Chingford Village Green, Chingford Assembly Hall, Saints Peter and Paul’s Church and Mornington Hall.
Fingers crossed for more good weather
Organiser and founder Irene Bull has been putting the family-fun event together for two decades.
Ms Bull managed to keep the festival on track last year despite suffering a bout a pneumonia in the months before, and she has had to cancel in the past due to a lack of funding.
But with sponsorship from the Chingford Guardian and car dealers Motorpoint, the show is very much on the road this time around.
Ms Bull chose ‘A Day in the Life of Music’ for the festival’s theme showcasing everything from bagpipes and ukuleles to live rock, pop and jazz music.
Don't mess with these lot!
Schools, shops, brigades, cadets and talented musical acts have jumped on board to make this year’s festival the biggest independently run event for miles around.
Our news team in the shape of reporter Lara Keay will be out and about at the festival, so come and say hello and let us know what you think.
We’ll be handing out free copies of the paper and please also let us know if you have a story for us to cover.
Free copies for everyone
In the meantime you can also get in touch with our Chingford reporter Joe Roberts by calling him on 07824 530127 or emailing him on joe.roberts@london.newsquest.co.uk
There will be free parking, weather dependent, in the Corporation of London’s overflow car park, but public transport on bus routes 97, 179, 212, 397, 444, 505, N38, is still recommended.
The London Overground at Chingford rail station, in Station Road, is a ten-minute walk away.
Forecasters are predicting an overcast day with highs of 20 degrees in the afternoon, but this may change.
