With just two days to go until polling day, things are heating up on the campaign trail in Chingford and Woodford Green.

Labour’s Bilal Mahmood, Liberal Democrat Deborah Unger, and Green Party candidate Sinead King are all looking to end Iain Duncan Smith’s 25-year reign as the constituency's Tory MP.

But why should you vote for them? We asked them to tell us in 140 words.

Bilal Mahmood, Labour

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

"I want to be your voice in Parliament because I'm invested in the area. I was born in Whipps Cross Hospital. I grew up in Woodford Green. It's here I learnt the values of fairness, aspiration and community.

"Our area is changing. I stood in 2015 because I was serious about giving our community a progressive voice in Parliament. By slashing IDS’ majority to a 20 year low, we proved Labour is the only real choice for a progressive change in Chingford and Woodford Green.

"I’m standing again to (1) ensure Whipps Cross Hospital is well maintained and staffed (2) fight the £21 million local school cuts planned by the Tories (3) work for a Brexit deal that ensures flourishing local businesses, (4) push for 10,000 more police officers to replace the 20,000 Theresa May cut thereby risking our safety."

Deborah Unger, Liberal Democrats

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

"A vote for the Liberal Democrats will end years of austerity and help improve lives for everyone — from children to pensioners — in Chingford & Woodford Green and across the UK. Vote Liberal Democrats for more money for education and free school meals for primary school children, not the Tory cuts. We will keep the triple lock on pensions and put £6 billion more in the NHS by adding 1p to income tax. We will invest £300 million in community policing to keep us safe and reverse Tory cuts.

"But to do this we need a good Brexit deal, not a hard Tory Brexit. We will let people vote on the Brexit deal because a bad deal could cost us £45 billion a year, something Britain cannot afford. Vote for the Liberal Democrats because you can change the direction of the country for the better."

Sinead King, Green Party

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

"Clean air, proper healthcare and a community that works for everyone. You’re already Green. But to make it happen, you have to vote for it.

"We’re told that poor choices are inevitable. Money for wars, bankers, nuclear power, fossil fuels. Cuts to healthcare, education, policing. Dementia tax. 40,000 dead from air pollution. An outdated voting system that fails to represent you.

"But you have the power to make it better.

"UKIP made Brexit happen. But no UKIP candidate ever won a seat in a general election: people simply voted UKIP in enough numbers that the mainstream parties adopted its policies to save their seats.

"Now imagine what we can do together.

"As your MP I will be an effective advocate to deliver a Green future.

"So join me, vote Green and change the face of British politics for the better."

Iain Duncan Smith, Conservative

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

"Since Labour’s great recession in 2009, Conservatives restored the economy, creating 3 million new jobs. We reduced tax for 31 million people and took low paid out of tax. We guarantee an extra £8 billion for the NHS and £4 billion for schools. Yet there’s an enormous risk.

"The independent Institute for Fiscal Studies said taxes would rise to levels not seen since the 1940s under Jeremy Corbyn. Home owners face a ‘garden tax’, £3087 per average family. Worse, Jeremy Corbyn threatens our security. In over 30 years he has voted against every piece of anti-terror legislation, supported extremist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah and opposed police forces being able to shoot to kill terrorists. We need strong leadership with Theresa May, to get a good deal from the EU, to ensure a strong economy and for strong defence against terrorism."
