THE hunt is on to find a man who put two women through an "utterly horrific" sexual assault on board a Central Line train.

A man sat opposite his victim, a 48-year-old woman, and her friend on an eastbound train from Bank station at 11pm on Friday, March 24.

He then started making inappropriate comments towards them.

The man then placed his hand between the victim’s legs and began touching her inappropriate manner.

He removed his hand before repeating it and then tried to do the same to the victim’s friend.

The man left the service at Newbury Park.

Investigating officer Det Con Andy Parkinson said: “I am keen to speak to the man in the CCTV image as I believe he has information that will help with the investigation.

“This was an utterly horrific incident. Everyone has the right to travel on the rail network without fear or intimidation.

"I would like to thank the two women for coming forward and reporting the incident.

"For us, every report builds a picture and I urge anyone with any information to come forward. If you recognise the man in the image please call us.”

Anyone with any information should contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016 citing reference 171 – 19/06/17.

*A man is now helping police with the investigation and people are asked to no longer share the CCTV images released in connection with this incident.
