An inflatable will be among the attractions at a festival after assurances it will not be dangerous for children.

North Weald Bassett Parish Council imposed a ban on bouncy castles on its land following the death of seven-year-old Summer Grant at Harlow Town Park last year.

But the planning committee agreed to a request for the 35ft x 30ft 'Wriggly Worm' inflatable adventure pod maze at the Thornwood Festival at Thornwood Common on Sunday, June 25, after receiving assurances over its fixings.

Councillors were told the inflatable - which children go inside rather than jump on - has 22 anchor points with 20mm thick stakes.

The operator has said it will not be used if the wind speed is over 24mph.
