A STAB victim was saved by police officers who happened to be investigating a fight at a nearby shop.

The police were called to the bust up at a shop in Coopersale Close on Woodford Green’s Broadmead Estate at 2.26pm on Saturday (June 17).

When they got there they did not find anyone who appeared to have been injured or involved in a fight.

After witnesses told them the suspects had run way, they searched the area – but to no avail.

Around half an hour later officers who were still in the shop quizzing people on what happened came out to find a man attacking someone.

He fled, while police rushed to help the 49-year-old man lying on the ground with a “slashed neck and assault injuries”.

Paramedics arrived and rushed him to hospital, where doctors believe his injuries are not life-threatening.

The suspect was traced to an address nearby, where police arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of GBH.

He is being held at a police station in east London while the investigation continues.
