A NIGHT food market is set to return to Walthamstow Town Square for eight weeks starting next month.

The Night Feast street market will run on Friday evenings throughout July and August from 5pm to late.

Starting on Friday, July 7, the foodie fun will also play host to basketball lessons for children from the Walthamstow Flames.

Visitors will also get some music to go with their dinner from bands True Vybz and Rumble Beer.

Street food organisation Feast Forum is hosting the night with support from the council.

The Feast Forum was founded by Waltham Forest-based street food trader Chris Evans.

He said the group's aim is to create a collective of quality market traders and establish the town centre of Walthamstow as a go-to destination to round off the working week.

Mr Evans said: “Last year was such a success, with great support from the local community.

“We were humbled to be chosen for the Olympic homecoming ceremony for gold medal-winner Lutalo Muhammad.

“This year we plan to make the best use of the summer, showing off the cream of local talent and providing a platform for some great new businesses.”

Backing the event’s return, Cllr Simon Miller said: “We know that residents and visitors to Walthamstow alike enjoy the Night Feast street market - it’s a lively, unique event that livens up our streets during the long summer evenings.”
