CHILDREN at a nursery dressed up and held a fundraising event for the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.
Pupils at Bright Kids Day Nursery in Leyton Mills in Leyton High Road raised over £400 by holding a fun day on Friday, June 23.
Managing director Bel Oomerjee said the children were emotionally affected by what they saw on the TV and wanted to reach out to help those who have lost their homes.

She said: “Children are very resilient but they have emotional wellbeing and they sympathise with the victims. They were watching everything about the fire on TV and were affected by it.
“They have extended families in Grenfell Tower and they were talking about people dying and how the smoke can kill you.
“Even though we are on the other side of London it’s real and it still affects us. They understand some of the victims were children and have lost their homes and their toys and the same thing could happen to them.”
The Mayor of Waltham Forest Cllr Yemi Osho attended the event which included a cake sale and a raffle supported by businesses in the area.
The owner of the nursery, which caters for babies and children up to the age of five, has agreed to match the amount raised at the event.
