The Red Imp Comedy Club, in Walthamstow, has announced its line-up of comic acts who will perform at the club throughout July in the lead up to this year’s Edinburgh Festival.

Some of the top names will include Barry Cryer, Greg Davies, Stephen K Amos, Mark Thomas, Sara Pascoe, Richard Herring, Shappi Khorsandi, Ed Byrne and Lucy Porter.

Red Imp founder, resident MC and comedy powerhouse, Susan Murray has previously persuaded the likes of Stewart Lee, Tim Vine, Micky Flanagan, Omid Djalili, Alan Carr, Josh Widdecombe and Bridget Christie to the back room pub theatre.

This summer's Edinburgh Preview season promises the same high standard, as the comedians will be trying out a mixture of fresh new material, as well as their classic cuts.

The Red Imp will even host its first even children’s matinee show with CBBS Big Howard’s “LOLtastic Yukfest’.

Susan Murray comments: “I am so honoured to be hosting such a great variety of British comedy talent – there is a comedic turn to suit everyone’s taste and it is really unusual to have a 50/50 split of male and females.

“Some of the artists will be familiar from appearance on TV and radio shows such Live at The Apollo, Mock the Week and R4’s News Quiz and all have something unique to bring to the stage in E17.”

In the past, Steward Lee said: “By feeding them only choicest comedy cuts available, Walthamstow’s up close and personal Red Imp Comedy club has hand-reared a discerning and imaginative audience as sassy and switched-on as the early alternative comedy crowds, and Susan Murray brings decades of experience to hosting and programming duties”

Omid Djalili described the comedy club as: “Really great room – and well marshalled by a pro like yourself - no wonder everyone wants to play the room”.
