The community came out in force to watch the armed services proudly strut their stuff through Chingford.

Crowds of people descended on Station Road to watch the impressive parade march by on Saturday.

The parade marked this year’s Armed Services Day - organised by Chingford's Royal British Legion - and the celebrations did not disappoint.

The Epping Forest Pipe Band led the parade out in their typically tartan glamour.

They were followed by a sight usually seen outside Buckingham Palace - the Band of Her Majesty's Scots Guard.

Former mayor and councillor in Endlebury ward, Peter Herrington said the band was “truly amazing to see and hear”.

Armed servicemen and women of all ages were present on the day, with a squadron of the Police Cadets proudly walking by the clapping crowds.

Pearly Kings and Queens from all over London gave the day a certain cockney sheen, while those light on their feet enjoyed the tea dance in the Assembly Hall after the parade.
