A cricket club raised £200 by holding a comedy night.

Walthamstow Cricket and Squash Club invited comedians John Mann and Alistair Barrie  to entertain and amuse its guests.

Mr Mann said: “Nights like this are a far better way to experience live comedy than any of the stadium gigs that are so prevalent.

“Walthamstow fortunately has one of the best little clubs in the country.”

The Drama Workshop of Waltham Forest loaned stage and lighting arrangements to the club for the comedy event.

Alistair Barrie, a regular cricketer, said it was the "best performance" he had given a cricket club in a number of years.

The show was booked by Susan Murray.
