Cake makers and photographers were among the prizes as a traders market introduced young entrepreneurs to the world of running a business.

Epping Town Partnership offered young people between the ages of 14 and 24 a free stall in Epping High Street on Saturday (July 8), to test their products and business acumen.

One winner was Zoe Anderson of Zo and Co, whose selection of brownies, bread puddings and meringue kisses sold out within a couple of hours.

Another was Chantelle Norris of Cakes by Chantelle, who offered decorated cupcakes at her stall.

The other, Lucy Beels, of Locket Photography, put a variety of prints and cards up for sale.

Meanwhile, disability group Sunflower showed painting, prints and drawings whilst Ace Upcycling from Epping Re-Use sold their first piece of furniture within ten minutes of trading.

A spokesperson from Epping Town Partnership, said: “Some of these young people not only sold their wares in the marketplace but also took orders for the future, making the day a true step into the business world.

“To give the whole exercise a more authentic touch, other, seasoned traders were invited to sell their goods at the market, so that the young people were surrounded by business people.”

Epping Forest Youth Council entertained the crowds at a tombola stall to raise money for The Children’s Charity.

Other groups there to entertain included Glee Club Academy, St John’s School who performed excerpts from their "School of Rock" show, and the Harlow Steel Band.

Owner of Essex Farmers Markets, Mike Allen, sponsored the stalls and Epping Forest District Council supported the event.

Epping Town Partnership, Frank Gates Ltd, and Design and Print Ltd provided the three prizes for the best products, price, presentation and customer service.
