A BUS driver has been jailed for tricking a woman onto his bus, locking her in, and sexually abusing her.

Mohammed Tamim Uddin, of Shrewsbury Road, Manor Park, was handed two years behind bars at Southwark Crown Court today (July 18).

On April 30 the 25-year-old was on the 25 bus route from Ilford to Oxford Circus.

When he got to central London he pulled into a side street where buses usually turn around before making the return journey.

After parking up he spotted a 25-year-old French woman, who he lured onto the bus promising to give her directions.

Once she got on board, Uddin closed the doors behind her and persuaded her to help him fix an alarm on the back window upstairs.

When they were both on the top deck, he sexually assaulted her.

The victim tried to run away screaming for help but he managed to corner her, expose himself, and masturbate in front of her.

After four minutes Uddin finally let his victim go and carried on with his job as normal.

He was arrested and charged with sexual assault, false imprisonment, and indecent exposure on May 10, admitting all three offences.

Sentencing, Judge Heir branded his actions “chilling, disgusting, and a huge breach of trust”.

DC Teresa Moore of the Met’s road and transport policing command said: “The victim was traumatised by her ordeal.

“This sentence sends out a clear message that such conduct will not be tolerated and will be dealt with robustly.”

Transport for London’s head of transport policing Siwan Hayward added: “Uddin's behaviour was sickening and I condemn his actions.

“Our passengers have the right to expect the highest standards of behaviour and customer care from transport staff across the capital. Uddin used his position of trust to prey on his victim.

"I commend the woman for bravely coming forward to report this despicable crime to police, so it could be fully investigated and Uddin jailed for his actions.

“We will be undertaking a comprehensive review to determine how this happened and learn lessons so that it does not happen again."

Uddin was dismissed as soon as the accusations came to light and will spend 10 years on the sex register.
