The East London Runners kept up their momentum by taking first place in the men’s and ladies team races in the ELVIS series.

Thomas Grimes stormed home in the five-mile race in 27.28 to become the second scorer with Antonio Martin Romero close behind, fifth scorer, in 28.12, as he gained a course personal best in the process.

Jennifer Ansell was the first lady scorer, clocking 32.15 and beating her time from last year of 44.35 by a huge margin.

Ava Lee was the second lady home, finishing in 33.17.

There was also another course personal best for Paula Bedford in the V35 category as she crossed the line in 36.02.

Grimes also took part in the Wycombe 10km where he finished first in a time of 37.53.

He said after the race: “It was a really tough course, so hilly, mainly up as far as I remember.”

At the St George’s 10-mile in Newport, Isle of Wight on Sunday, Michael Bamford finished 40th out of 148 finishers and was third in the V50 category.

He completed the course in 1.22:35.
