Four teenagers have been arrested after a bottle of acid, gloves and a balaclava were found in a car.

Police became suspicious of the youths in the car and pulled them over in Worsley Road, in Leytonstone, just before 9pm.

The offending items were then recovered and the four teenagers - two aged 17 and two aged 18 - were arrested on suspicion of possession of a noxious substance.

They have been taken to an east London police station where they are currently detained.

Enquires continue.

DI Michelle Peters of Waltham Forest CID said: "These arrests show the value of stop and search and our determination to keep our communities safe. The impact of these substances on victims is terrible. Let me be clear, those found carrying corrosive substances will be arrested and they will be made to face the consequences."
